The impoverished neighborhoods of Beer Sheva are rife with crime and drug and alcohol abuse, exposing teenagers to risky behaviors. Since 2009, Open Door Beer Sheva has been promoting the health and wellbeing of at-risk adolescents and young adults ages 12-25. The center provides counseling services, educational programming, and information for adolescents, parents, young adults, and professionals working with youth. Open Door Beer Sheva services are available through face-to-face meetings, by phone, through community outreach programming, and online counseling. All services offered at Open Door Beer Sheva are free of charge, confidential, and culturally and socially sensitive. By integrating counseling services and workshops into local high schools and other informal frameworks, like after-school programs, we aim to educate young adults on sexual education topics including sexual development, gender roles, dating and relationships, body-image and self-esteem, contraception and unwanted pregnancies. Through its diverse programming, Open Door Beer Sheva reaches over 2,500 individuals each year.
