Counseling Centers
Through our national network of 12 centers for teenagers and young adults, we offer counseling on a range of topics including adolescence, relationships, sexual orientation and identity, contraception, violence prevention, and healthy and responsible sexual behavior. Our approach is unique in that we discuss healthy aspects of sexuality in addition to how to prevent harmful situations. Our services are provided in person through private and confidential meetings as well as by phone or online and can be customized to fit cultural and linguistic needs. Open Door also provides teenagers with pregnancy tests, emergency contraception, and the option to meet with our volunteer gynecologist for examinations and prescriptions.
In addition to our counseling services, Open Door staff and volunteers assist young women when they experience unplanned pregnancies, providing them with all options and accompanying girls who chose to terminate their pregnancy through the entire process. Open Door volunteers include social workers, doctors, nurses and more, all of whom are trained in our three-month volunteer course. In January 2017, we opened an emergency counseling hotline that is open between 8pm and midnight every weekday.
